About Kakadu National Park
Kakadu is an enormous National Park located on Kakadu Highway in Jabiru, Northern Territory. This Park is a massive 19,804 km squared and is home to 2,000 plant species and lots of wildlife such as saltwater crocodiles, flatback turtles and birds.

Plants
There are over 2,000 species of plants in Kakadu National Park, many have been used as bush tucker medicine and for material. Four of the most popular plants are; Pandanus, Speargrass, Kapok bush and Darwin woollybutt. Gonggirr is the most common form of Pandanus, the leaves of the plant are used as material for weaving. Speargrass got it's name from it's tall figure, which can grow up to 4 metres. Kapok bushes, also known as Andjedj can be used as a food source, the small flowers it sprouts when in full bloom can be eaten raw or cooked. Kapok can also be used as decoration or to make string. Darwin woollybutt, also known as Andjalen, is used to determine seasons and when is the perfect time to start lighting fires.
Animals
Crocodiles are an easy spot in Northern Territory, with 10,000 just in Kakadu and that's only one-tenth of their population. Freshwater crocs can grow up to 3 metres, whilst saltwater crocs can grow up to 6 metres! Leidchardt's grasshopper are a colourful grasshopper that only live in three parts of the world, Kakadu being one of them. The native quoll is an endangered species, having a hard time survivng up in Northern Territory, with the threat of cane toads. Flatback turtles rely on the Alligator River that joins Kakadu to the ocean, it is vital for their survival. Comb-crested jacana is a bird known for it's aility to walk on water and have bright red combs on their forehead and enormous splayed feet.Kakadu has about 1000 diferent species of animals and these are just a few of them.
